O ano de 2009 marcou o início de um projeto pioneiro em Portugal, resultante de uma parceria entre o Sport Lisboa y Benfica e a empresa ARGO | Arte, Património & Cultura, naquela que é a primeira associação entre desporto e património no nosso país. Traduz-se num conjunto de ações no âmbito da conservação e restauro, e na criação de uma estrutura interna responsável pela gestão da conservação da coleção do clube, en una logica determinadade creación de valor para la instituición. A Associação Portuguesa de Museologia (APOM) distinguiu este trabalho na categoria de Melhor Intervenção de Conservação e Restauro 2011, sublinhando a visão integrada e inovadora que revela.
A publicação desta nova revista - ecr, estudos de conservação e restauro - vem completar o processo iniciado em 2002, aquando da criação do curso de licenciatura em conservação e restauro na Escola das Artes da Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Centro Regional do Porto.Como tal, o esforço que tal desafio intelectual pressupõe constitui para nós motivo de especial satisfação.A investigação representa no actual panorama universitário com o estabelecimento do segundo e terceiro ciclo de estudos, um objectivo fundamental. A existência de uma plataforma de publicação é, por isso, o melhor meio para que essa investigação aflore e para que seus resultados possam ser avaliados. Esta publicação debruça-se sobre a manufatura dos contraplacados, por ser o painel de excelência usado por Abel Salazar, como suporte das suas pinturas a óleo. Através da observação directa e segundo a bibliografia consultada, traçam-se as características destes suportes, que se inscrevem na primeira metade do séc. XX, e identificam-se as patologias mais significativas.
In this text some GIS-based spatial analysis methods are presented, enabling the quantification of areas with white lacunae in a 16th century wood painting. With an imageproduced during a conservation/restoration intervention, and applying a principal component analysis (PCA) as well as several classificators, thematic maps of the lacunae were created. Four methods were used: automatic division of histogram in intervals (level slicing); alimiarization (thresholding); a supervised classification method based in the productionof training areas, a spectral signature and a maximum likelihood classification; and anunsupervised classification method with a cell aggregation algorithm (iso cluster). Paintings in coffered ceilings spread from North to South of Portugal since the first quarterof the XVII century until as late as the beginning of the XIX century. The evolution of this kind of painting followed the dominant artistic styles of the period, largely due to the presence of foreign artists, and in some cases linked to provincial workshops.The master thesis study provides a better understanding of the painting of the coffered ceilings, especially in the North, and points out aspects which ought to be taken into account for their preservation and maintenance, as well as for the future possibility of distinction of authorship and artistic groups.
The study of the pictorial works of Abel Salazar was the outcome of the Master of Techniques and Conservation of Painting’s essay, at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. It was based on all information gathered during the conservation and restoration works held on the collection of the Museum House (2003/4), and the physical and physical-chemical studies undertaken by the Laboratory. It was possible to determine the technique, materials, such as pigments and charges used by the artist on seven of his master-pieces, referring to different periods.
Under the project Materials and Techniques of the Northern Painters of Portugal, a team of researchers met, whose common objectives were the study, valorisation and divulgation of this stream of the national artistic heritage. It was up to this research, the survey’s technical support of the five panels belonging to the altarpiece of the Cathedral of Lamego (1506-1511), authored by Vasco Fernandes. The indispensable partnership with the Institute of Museums and Conservation, has allowed a multidisciplinary approach in situ. The essay that follows, reflects the radiographic process from the work-field until the conclusions drawn from their interpretation. Through innovative information, this is assumed to contribute to the History of Art and History of Conservation and Restoration.
Esta comunicação tem como objeto a complexa formação do conservador de obras de arte, que necessita dominar conhecimentos dos campos da História da Arte, da Ciência e os referentes á própria disciplina. Serão tecidas considerações a respeito da formação do conservador, tendo em vista a experiência do próprio autor na formação desse profissional.
