Nestas últimas décadas, a Cultura tem vindo a adquirir um papel cada vez mais importante nas nossas sociedades. Em Portugal, as primeiras políticas culturais surgiram no início do século XX, com o Estado Novo e mais especificamente, com António Ferro, director do Secretariado de Propaganda Nacional do regime salazarista. Actualmente, a Câmara Municipal de Lisboa possui uma empresa, a EGEAC, E.E.M (Empresa de Gestão de Equipamentos e Animação Cultural, Entidade Empresarial Municipal), a quem cabe a organização da vida cultural da cidade e a gerência de alguns edifícios pertencentes ao património lisboeta. O presente relatório, além de explicar em que é que consistiu o estágio na EGEAC, começa por caracterizar a empresa de acolhimento, primeiro de um ponto de vista histórico, para depois, esclarecer quanto à sua funcionalidade interna. Aborda, de
seguida, o conjunto de projectos em que participei e o meu contributo em cada um, assim como, os processos e procedimentos necessários à realização de um qualquer evento. Uma vez que estagiei na Direcção de Gestão Cultural, defino esta noção para um melhor entendimento do trabalho efectuado pelo departamento. Finaliza-se com uma breve definição do conceito de Cultura e a análise deste último enquanto factor social e económico importante nas sociedades em geral e, mais particularmente, no caso português e da cidade de Lisboa. Para o efeito, referencia-se o impacte que teve o Estado Novo e sobretudo a sua ideologia de afirmação da Cultura, vigente a partir dos anos trinta em Portugal assim como, a importância que tem vindo a adquirir mais recentemente enquanto significativo factor económico.

During these last years, initiatives associated with Culture have been acquiring more and more importance in our societies. In Portugal, the first cultural policies appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century with the Estado Novo regime, namely with António Ferro, the director of the Salazar’s Secretariado de Propaganda Nacional (Secretariat of National Propaganda). Nowadays, the City Council of Lisbon has a company, the EGEAC, E.E.M (Company for the Equipment, and Cultural Entertainment Management, A Local Corporation Entity) that is in charge of the organization of the city’s cultural life and the
management of some buildings of Lisbon’s heritage. In addition to describing my training at the EGEAC, this report also characterizes the company, first from a historical point of view and then, explaining its internal operation. After that, it introduces all the projects I have taken part in, and further describes my participation in each one, as well as the necessary processes and procedures for any project’s accomplishment. As my learning took place in the Cultural Management Department, I put forward a definition of the notion of cultural management for a better understanding of its objectives. Finally, it defines briefly the idea of Culture, analysing it as an important social and economic factor in the societies, and more specifically, in Portugal and in Lisbon. Thus, I refer to the Estado Novo impact and especially, its ideology of culture, effective from the thirties in Portugal, and the importance that it has been acquiring more recently as a significant economic factor.
