As avós - como os avôs - estão a mudar e as representações
sociais que as(os) rodeiam também. Efectivamente, o prolongamento da esperança de
vida aliado a uma melhoria generalizada da qualidade de vida de que a terceira idade
beneficia trouxeram os idosos e os temas do envelhecimento para o centro da agenda
mediática, política e também científica. Qual é o lugar destes simultaneamente velhos e
novos protagonistas no quotidiano da família nuclear? Que tensões e contradições
emergem nos espaços e tempos das relações intergeracionais? Eis algumas das questões
que guiam este texto.
After 13 years under private management, Hospital Prof. Fernando da Fonseca (HFF) committed to invest a solid EHR strategic approach aligned with best practices, due to management shift as public management hospital within the NHS network. HFF focused on creating a Clinical Commission for information that could support and lead the change on workflow and mindset of the hospital culture. This team combines the knowledge and experience of multidisciplinary roles, designing a EHR model that fully responds to the needs. Thus ensuring a successful phased implementation which started in the emergency department and was then deployed throughout the rest of the hospital. This paper addresses the selection of partners in innovation networks. It builds on the existing literature to develop an integrative framework that encompasses the main factors identified as influencing selection of partners by young knowledge-intensive firms. It considers that both persistence and novelty are present in the network building process, and so integrates several explanations advanced by the literature: social capital, imprinting and inertia for tie persistence; network embeddedness and proximity for new tie selection.

The paper investigates the strategic choices made by young science-based firms regarding the selection of knowledge sources. Data collected on Portuguese biotechnology firms are analysed with a view to answer to two research questions: whether, to what extent and in which conditions science-based entrepreneurs activate their social capital and/or build new knowledge relationships at start-up; whether and to what extent the knowledge relationships established at start-up persist and/or the firm builds relationships with new organisations.
