Error occurs in medical practice. Perception error is particularly prevalent in Radiology. The studies in this area of knowledge are vital to understand the importance of perceptual factors in diagnostic imaging and consequently providing information allowing the development of computerized aided detection systems (CAD systems), that can help to reduce the number of false-negatives.
Using cases of their own experience, the authors describe the cortical mapping related with the main brain functions they had investigated by Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI).
Mucocele is a benign lesion with slow growth containing mucoid material. It is frequently found in the frontal and ethmoid sinuses. Clinical manifestations may range from asymptomatic to frontal cephalea, facial edema or asymmetry and ophthalmologic alterations as proptosis and reduced visual acuity. It is rarely bilateral. The authors present a case report of a 72 year old woman with a bilateral fronto-ethmoidal mucocele. A brief review of the literature is also included.
Osteitis is a group of disease that provoke alterations of bone metabolism and growth. Paget's disease, Osteopetrosis, Osteogenesis lmperlecta, Otosclerosis, Fibrous Dysplasia are otodystrophies that are clinically, radiologically and pathalogically distinct. The characteristics of the different otodystrophies are reviewed and the data of a patient presented with the suggestion that the reoder determines the diagnosis.
