Background: Jealousy is common between
humans but can assume pathological characteristics.
Aims: To report a case of obsessive jealousy
and to review the concept and clinical features
of the condition.
Methods: A clinical cases of obsessive jealousy
was obtained and a literature review
of the theme was shortly surveyed.
Results and Conclusions: The clinical case
presents a man with morbid jealousy with
obsessive features who was hospitalized after
a suicide attempted. During his hospitalization
he was medicated with fluvoxamine
and clonazepam reporting a decrease of the
ruminative thoughts and anxiety. A correct
diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive disorder
(OCD) and its differentiation from a delusion,
obsessive or overvalued idea are essential
for an adequate approach and treatment.
This work presents the determination of principal volatile compounds (acetaldehyde, ethyl acetate, methanol, 2-butanol, 1-propanol, 2-methyl-
1-propanol, 2-propen-1-ol, 1-butanol, 2-methyl-1-butanol and 3-methyl-1-butanol) in wine spirits, brandies and grape marc spirits by GC-FID.
The method was evaluated in terms of suitability of chromatographic system, accuracy, precision, linearity and detection and quantifi cation
limits. The method showed good accuracy for the majority of the compounds and it presented linearity and precision for all compounds.
Based on these results the method seems suitable for quality control of marc spirits and wine spirits.

Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder and one of the leading causes of disease burden worldwide. It represents a source of significant suffering and disability to the affected individuals, and is associated with substantial societal and economical costs.
The diagnosis of schizophrenia still depends exclusively on the detection of symptoms that are also present in other mental disorders. This situation causes overlapping of the boundaries of the diagnostic categories and constitutes a source of diagnostic errors. Moreover, current treatment algorithms do not take into account the substantial interindividual variability in response to antipsychotic drugs. As a result, around one-third of patients are treatment-resistant to first line antipsychotic drugs. This deleterious consequence is associated with poor individual outcomes and el...
Lattice constants, magnetic properties and dielectric behavior of h-LuMnxO3 +/-delta solid solution (0.95 <= x <= 1.04) of bulk ceramic samples prepared by the solid state reaction method were studied to determine the role of stoichiometry changes on the crystalline structure and magneto-electric coupling. It is found that increasing of Mn content results in reduction of cell volume of h-LuMnxO3 +/-delta ceramics mostly due to shrinkage of a-axis length. The antiferromagnetic interactions of Mn3+ ions weaken with cell volume contraction. A weak ferromagnetic contribution appeared in all samples and extends up to the Neel temperature, T-N. Irreversibility in temperature dependent magnetic measurements already reported for stoichiometric compositions of hexagonal RMnO3 oxides appears for all h-LuMnxO3 +/-delta samples right below Neel or...
evocado e tratado no Ensino Básico. Destina-se a aprofundar e promover teorias, conhecimentos,
competências, valores, atitudes e práticas que potenciem o bom uso e a protecção daquele bem, e de um
modo mais geral uma alteração de posturas culturais e mesmo civilizacionais. Fá-l...
This study investigates the nanostructure of perovskite thin films, and its influence on magnetic properties. Epitaxial thin films of perovskite La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 with thickness ranging from 13.5 nm to 320 nm were deposited on SrTiO3 (1 0 0) substrates using pulsed laser deposition techniques. X-ray diffraction, along with high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) investigations were carried out, and showed the presence of a second, La-rich phase in thick film. Scanning electron microscopy analysis showed thinner films to have smooth surfaces, while thicker films presented large triangular shapes emerging out of the film surface. Also HRTEM images revealed epitaxial growth for thinner films. Thicker films grow with numerous misfit dislocations leading to columnar structure, where the thickest film presents branched structur...
Oxygen deficient KTaO3 thin films were grown by RF magnetron sputtering on Si/SiO2/Ti/Pt substrates. Room temperature X-ray diffraction shows that they are under a compressive strain of 2.3%. Leakage current results reveal the presence of a conductive mechanism, following Poole-Frenkel formalism. The existence of a polar response below T-pol approximate to 367 degrees C was ascertained by dielectric, polarization, and depolarization current measurements. A Cole-Cole dipolar relaxation was evidenced which is associated with oxygen vacancies induced dipoles. After annealing the films in an oxygen atmosphere above T-pol, the aforementioned polar response is suppressed, due to significant oxygen vacancies reduction.
Deliberately oxygen deficient potassium tantalate thin films were grown by RF magnetron sputtering on Si/SiO2/Ti/Pt substrates. Once they were structurally characterized, the effect of oxygen vacancies on their electric properties was addressed by measuring leakage currents, dielectric constant, electric polarization, and thermally stimulated depolarization currents. By using K2O rich KTaO3 targets and specific deposition conditions, KTaO3-delta oxygen deficient thin films with a K/Ta = 1 ratio were obtained. Room temperature X-ray diffraction patterns show that KTaO3-delta thin films are under a compressive strain of 2.3% relative to KTaO3 crystals. Leakage current results reveal the presence of a conductive mechanism, following the Poole-Frenkel formalism. Furthermore, dielectric, polarization, and depolarization current measurements...
Epitaxial La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (LSMO) thin films, with different thicknesses ranging from 20 to 330 nm, were deposited on (1 0 0)-oriented strontium titanate (STO) substrates by pulsed laser deposition, with their structure and morphology characterized at room temperature. The magnetic and electric transport properties of the as-processed thin films reveal an abnormal behaviour in the temperature dependent magnetization M(T) below the antiferrodistortive STO phase transition (T-STO), and also an anomaly in the magnetoresistance and electrical resistivity close to the same temperature. Films with thickness <= 100 nm show an in-excess magnetization and pronounced changes in the coercivity due to the interface-mediated magnetoelastic coupling with antiferrodistortive domain wall movement occurring below T-STO. However, in thicker LSMO thin film...
